Christine Madden is the FAA Runway Safety Program Manager and has served a detail position as the Deputy Regional Administrator in the Great Lakes Region. She has also worked as a manager in both Headquarters and the Central Service Area Runway Safety Teams, as well as in the Eastern Region's Runway Safety office.
Christine previously worked in the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Air Traffic Organization's Safety and Technical Training as an Air Traffic Control Specialist in Air Traffic and Technical Operations Training offices. She is a certified Advanced Aviation Safety Officer with a focus on aviation accident and incident investigation, Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Aviation Safety Program Management through the United States Department of Transportation's Transportation Safety Institute where she also worked as an adjunct instructor.
Ray is currently the Eastern Service Area Team Manager overseeing the Eastern, New England and Southern Regions under the Office of Safety and Technical Training, Runway Safety Group. Prior to his role as Team Manager, Ray was the Runway Safety Program Manager in the New England Region for 11 years. Ray comes with a background in Air Traffic beginning his career in the Flight Service option at the Burlington AFSS and then moving onto the tower option. Ray also spent several years in the Regional Office Air Traffic Division, working in several branches such as Operations, Labor Relations and Senior Advisor to the Director before moving onto System Operations.
Ray is also the Co-Chair for the Airport Construction Advisory Council (ACAC) working with Air Traffic Managers as well as Airport Sponsors on construction projects effecting the National Airspace System.
Karen is the NAFI Board Chair, a Designated Pilot Examiner, three-time NAFI Master Instructor, CFI, CFII, MEI, CFI-G, AGI, IGI, FAA Gold Seal Instructor and FAASTeam Lead Representative. She teaches in a range of aircraft and enjoys flying her own RV6.
Karen is a Major in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), serves as a member of the WINGS Industry Network, contributes to the FAA Surface Safety Group, is an FAA Safety Team Lead Representative, and is active in several other aviation organizations. Karen is the 2019 National FAASTeam Representative of the year.
She became active in aviation after success as a senior VP in the banking sector, as a graduate school professor, and as President of her own international consulting business.
