Space Weather Effects on Aviation

Space Weather can have numerous effects on safe aircraft operation, aircrews, and the National Airspace System. As the Next Generation Air Traffic Control System shifts to a reliance on more space-based systems, these effects could become more pronounced. Examples of past Space Weather impacts and the potential for impacts in the context of an extreme event will be discussed.
